Reverie Realm
The Images: Image Detail

Uneasy Lies The Head . . .

I look upon this luxury,
the increase that conquests have won,
and emptiness is all I see.
The years weigh heavy in my hands,
I find no peace and little comfort
from the bounty at my command.
Uneasy lies the head at rest
on a weary, burdened throne.
-verse by Carolyn Adams

Sometimes, even being king brings little comfort.

The image consists of 12 separate photographs. The king and throne being central, the back wall, from a garden in a neighboring town, the floor and steps in front of a university library. The columns are faux marble table tops with depth and roundness added, the flames, braziers and supports all separate elements. The two slave women were added last. The wall decoration is a scanned graphic given a third dimension. Numerous adjustment and shadow layers added.
