I rule these lands, this sky, this night -
and you who grovel at my feet
owe to me your tiny lives.
I am the cold flame that burns in you
and you desire me like the blood
that surges through your aching veins.
I am the witch queen, your fever,
and you are dust upon the ground.
-verse by Carolyn Adams
The Witch Queen, herself, was shot in the studio and incorporated into four other photographs to create the image. The night sky consists of two images from the public domain site of the Hubble Space telescope. The mountains in the background are the Canadian Rockies in British Columbia and the promontory of rocks she stands on are from a photo of a jetty jutting into the ocean in western Canada. Over a dozen adjustment and masking layers were incorporated into the final vision.
